Rose Cottage Day Nursery opened in November 2015, and is set within the grounds of a beautiful countryside location within Borde Hill. The building where our nursery is situated is a beautiful timber clad 2 storey woodland building which has charm, character and creates an ambience of a warm environment. Settled in the woodlands, with an extensive garden and woodland walk area it’s the perfect setting to inspire young minds.
The nursery is registered for 52 children and caters for children from 12 weeks up to 5 years and welcomes children with special educational needs. We have highly qualified staff who provide the highest standards of care and education and continuously train to improve their knowledge.
Rose Cottage Day Nursery is conveniently located with well routed connections to Brighton, Haywards Heath, Horsham and other surrounding locations. We have ample parking to the front of the nursery for parents to use whilst dropping off and collecting their children.
We are open Monday to Fridays from 8am to 6pm and offer both full and part time places. See our contact us page for details on how to get in touch and check availability.
At Rose Cottage Day Nursery our rooms are bright and colourful and each room contains a good range of toys and equipment to keep your child entertained and stimulated throughout their time with us. Activities are planned to provide variety and stimulation and are matched to the needs of each child or small groups of children.
Our rooms are organised to be appropriate for each learning age, so whether your child is under a year old or nearly school age, they will have everything they need to get the best start in their educational life.
In our Baby Room we have highly experienced staff whose priority is to follow the home routine of each baby as closely as possible. All planning will be displayed on the room wall for you to view and see what activities and developments your child will be participating in that week.
The Room is a large spacious room which allows the babies to sit, roll, crawl and walk freely. Different toys and sensory activities are available for the babies so that they can access a range of experiences throughout the day. There is a sleep room for the babies to have their naps, as well as quiet areas in which the babies can have relaxed time.
During the initial stages of nursery life we shall endeavour to follow the routine set by each individual allowing them to feed, rest and play when they require. A key person system complements this by ensuring that individual needs are met.
Children in these rooms are generally becoming more mobile and inquisitive. Our Toddler Room provides a more structured day with a much greater choice of learning opportunities including arts and crafts, construction activities, table top games and much more.
The toddlers follow the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children are planned for individually following observations which will reveal children’s interests and schemas. The room is divided into two rooms, creating smaller stepping stone transitions when moving up through the age grouped rooms.
The Mossy Riverbank room caters for children aged between 2 – 3 years and children are planned for individually following observations which will reveal children’s interests and schemas.
This group are based in a cosy room, which is full of activities that are designed to encourage social and learning skills, as well as starting to build independence. There are plenty of opportunities for dressing up, singing and dancing, stories and messy play.
The Pre-School room caters for varied children between the ages of 3-5, and in this room the aim is to prepare the child for a successful transition into full-time education.
We pride ourselves on ensuring that when children leave nursery to move on to school, they do so confidently and independently, whilst taking with them the enjoyment of learning and a pride in their achievements. We strive for your child to be able to have the following skills when leaving the nursery: recognising and writing their own name, demonstrating good observational skills, showing preliminary reading skills, good pencil control, showing creative skills and knowledge of numbers.
